Hood - unfortunately the Joynt is 18+ only. We are hoping to hold another one later this year, and then next year too. so more opportunities for you to come check it all out.

Each one will be a really different event, new singers, new format.

@ Krazy - Not so sure about recorded audio.
But we'll hopefully organise someone to film it bootleg style, so we can post highlights up for those who miss this one.

This Saturday!!!

All the singers are all still on board. Tomorrow night we bring the band together with the singers and we'll see what kind of show we've got.

Big Up to Basmati for letting me and Jay (PAUA) spin tunes on The Yard last saturday. small sample of some of the stuff that will be heard this weekend.

Can't wait now.

From the promoters perspective, it was a completely successful night and definately a step up from the last one (which was solid anyhows).

In Total, there were 19 singers who joined us on stage, performing 13 songs, with a 9 piece live backing band- The Upsteppers usual crew with additional percusssionist (dubmarine).
The Joynt was full-up as you can see on Basmati's facebook pic's, over 180 people crammed in there.

Some of my highlights:
Hua + Clem + Bobo (Darky Roots) singing 'Love me forever' - Carlton and the Shoes.
Tau + crew (Spacifix) singing 'I know we can make it' Toots and Maytals.
Paulie B (Tanuki Dub /Beautiful Girls) singing 'Live Good' - Burning Spear.
Nia Falekakala (Chocolate Strings) singing 'Cupid' - Johnny Nash version.
Jay and crew (Paua) singing 'Slave Driver' - Dennis Brown Version.
Ofa Fanaika (Chocolate Strings) singing ' Woman I Tell No Lie' - Dennis Brown.
CC The Cat singing 'Woman of the Ghetto' - Phyllis Dillon Version.
D Kazman (Dubmarine) singing 'Where Did I Go Wrong' - UB40.
and Sunny Dread with his Lyric Sheet :hmm:

Solid vibes all night. Basmati played 2 awesome sets, keeping to a vintage style. respect Basmati.

Tough venue for this sort of thing. singers have to push through the crowd to get onstage, so some changeovers between songs were slow. But everyone seemed to roll with it.

Will put up some video when i get a chance.

huge respect to all the 28 people involved in the making this show happen. Won't name names, but it is greatly appreciated and hope you were happy with the results.
:respect:

yeah bro, all got recorded. I have made a couple more clips that i want to upload, but just waiting for permission from the artists. will post when they are up.

The tunes were selected by the singers this time round, so bit of artist overlap but pretty diverse. Unfortunately no dancehall made it in this time.
Next one we will be more prescriptive about offering tunes to sing.

Here's the list from #2
Woman I Tell No Lie - Dennis Brown
Live Good - Burning Spear
Man Next Door - John Holt
I know we can make it - Toots and the Maytals
True Love Is Hard To Find - Toots and the Maytals
Slave Driver - Bob Marley and The Wailers
Kingston Town - Lord Creation
Woman of the Ghetto - Phyllis Dillon (Marlena Shaw)
Purify Your Heart - Johnny Osbourne
Where Did I Go Wrong - UB40
Cupid - Johhny Nash (Sam Cooke)
Johhny Too Bad - The Slickers
