This year Reggae music will have been circulating all over the world for 50 years. By the beginning of summer it will have set up a new home at The Brewery, for Byron Bay's first Annual Reggae Festival.

'Reggaefest' is inspired by Byron Bay's ever growing appreciation for evolutionary and authentic forms of the genre. On December 4, conscious reggae and dancehall artists from all over the world and within Australia will come together for 12 hours of pure vibes, spread over 3 stages.

The line up will feature Midnite (St Croix), Turbulance (Jamaica), Sud Soundsystem (Italy), Deadly Hunta (UK) and emerging Australian acts such as Kingfisha, Darky Roots, Paua and many more.

The Reggae Lounge Cinema will be featuring new and vintage Jamaican flicks while The Restaurant will be dishing out Caribbean inspired meals plus an Award winning boutique brew on tap.

The Brewery is just a short walk to some of the worlds most beautiful surf beaches and Byron Bay's CBD. A shuttle bus to town will be available for your convenience.

Tickets are VERY limited and can be purchased NOW ONLINE SALE ONLY!

Keep checking the website for updates and more artists announcements or join the mailing list to be sure not to miss a thing.

Bless...

Yes give thanks for this news. I pray all works out well and that this receives the right support. Cannot wait to see Midnite , and Turbulence will be great to check also. Not familiar with too many others, tho it's good to see Darky Roots on the bill, as I've heard some of their tunes, and they seem to hold it down strong.
The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

Big Day Out? Raggamuffin? I'm more thinking can a festival be held indoors? But I'm not exactly concerned...a reggae gig by any other name would sound as sweet!

About the venue: "The Brewery (once called The Piggery till the Hare Krishnas came in and turned it into a vegetarian restaurant and cinema) was the previous home to the Blues Fest and now serves gold winning boutique beer on tap."

So there you go, the venue has auspicious precedents as far as festivals go! Byo sausages ;)

Big and serious, is there something going on? The silence in here is deafening. Big up the promoters of this one time. God knows nuff promoters around the country have had their...ups and downs with bringing in outernational acts, and I'm glad to see not all have been put dissuaded from trying a thing.

:fire: Reggaefest. :fire: May it be the first of many.

[edit] and respect for getting the "reggaefest" website locked down. Well done, fuckin gold that one!

I'm saving my excitement for this thread until I have my ticket and airfare for it. Still sounds too good to be true. Hope it doesn't fall through like previous attempts to bring reggae artistes over. And what is the deal with no Fyah Walk on the lineup... an obvious choice for such a festival and in their home town... what gives?

Great news for Byron Bay !

I imagine the lack of excitement from the "appreciation society" is perhaps due to the exclusivity of this event. The strictly 'No Side Shows' policy hurts the fans who need to travel the vast distances and pay the expenses just to be there, plus the event ticket. It's really good news for the people of Byron Bay and the surrounding areas, and helps the local reggae scene development. But try to understand it from the fans who live outside and thus forced to travel far and wide. I can't imagine it will be difficult to fill up a 900 capacity show, so I suggest if you're planning to go, get your tickets quick ... forward Byron !

Yeah, fair enough. You don't have to tell Brisbane people bout have to travel...99% of big shows that happen in Aus we have to travel for!

hi i'm from outta germany, currently visiting in byron until december. its good timing i hope.
but i have a few question about the venue i tried to email the event but havent received reply so thats why im posting here. so my question is what is the maximum capacity of the brewery, because my worry is how will everybody be able to watch the performances, is there more space or will some people have to miss out? just wondering before i spend $ on a ticket, i want to know i will able to see all the singers. i read on facebook that only 600 tickets are left. is this true? thanks.peace.
